After two days off, we headed back to the fair today, this time with Tony. It was an absolutely gorgeous afternoon, cool and sunny. Perfect pet-a-baby-lamb-chow-down-on-a-deep-fried-snickers-bar kind of weather.

No likey the chickens
This was right outside the poultry building
Sheep, on the other hand, are nice and quiet

Does she look like a girl now?
Another fun-filled day at the Fair
We went home for a morning nap, then went back with Saba. We saw dogs at the Pet Center, went through the Little Farm Hands activity center, and of course, got more food.
I want that one
A very tolerant dog
Hmmm, not sure about the apron
I guess I do look pretty cute in this thing

State Fair
It’s that time of the year again. The smell of deep fried candy bars, hot buttered sweet corn, and fresh cow manure fills the air (not necessarily in that order). Droves of fair-goers circle the streets of my neighborhood for hours looking for a parking spot while their children spiral into a psychotic meltdown in the back of the minivan. Yep, it’s the Great Minnesota Get-Together!
We love the fair. It’s been going on for three days and Millie and I have already gone twice. My good friend Anna was in town from NY and together we all went to see her boyfriend Kevin’s A Cappella group perform. Whoot whoot!
Millie had so much fun Thursday she was buzzing with joy. She kept wrapping her arms around my neck and kissing me over and over as if to say: "Thanks for bringing me to this magical place Mom!" By Friday she was a little less excited about being trapped in her stroller. Can't blame her.
On Friday Millie and I joined Tony's family in the morning in the cattle barn (fun) and then we all went to see Kevin perform again. Here are some shots from the day:

What is that?!
Keep me safe Grandpa
Whatever you do, don't make direct eye contact with the cow
Uh oh
I like the cows, but I'm a little afraid of them too. It's a love-hate relationship.
Ok, that's enough cows for one day Grandpa
With Grandma and Grandpa
With Uncle Ron
Once Millie recovered from her PTHS (Post Traumatic Heiffer Syndrom), she was able to relax with Grandpa while taking in the soothing sounds of Marcoux Corner. Note the outfit change. I don't recommend Target brand diapers.
Nap time
In the evening, we went to Coco's Mom's birthday party. Happy 30th Angie!
Kayt (better known as Soren's Mom), birthday girl Angie, and me.
Side note: I look so fat in that photo it makes me want to cry. It does not, however, make me consider eating less at the fair Monday.
Our gorgeous crew
That was a long day!
And an even longer blog post. Good night to all.

Play Date
Last week, Millie's friend Eve had a playdate at her house (with her mom's permission, of course). The kids all love getting together and playing with someone else's toys, even if they are the exact same toys they have at home. And us moms, well, we are grateful for any excuse to get out of the house. Sarah's house and yard are great for playdates, plus she makes killer fresh strawberry pie. Same time next week Sarah?
Kids everywhere!

Saba and Safta
Once or twice a week, we spend the day with my parents. They go by Saba and Safta(Grandfather and Grandmother in Hewbrew). Or at least they will, once she starts saying it. My dad tries hard, but so far she only calls the cat by any a specific name: tee-tee.
Our days with Saba and Safta are the best days of our week. It gives me a much needed break, Millie loves every second she spends with them, and they are over the moon for her. It's a win-win.
Reading with Safta
Playing with the fly swatter
Watering Safta's flowers
Millie LOVES the turtle sandbox, especially the dumping sand onto the deck part
Saba's turn to read
Ooooooh! I think I hear a tee tee!
Let the chase begin
